Masculine Makeover
This was one of my first full projects in Walla Walla. I had renovated our own farmhouse and branching out by helping people style their homes and give advice on remodels & design work but on this one, I really got to be part of the entire vision from demo to completion.
Gille purchased this home which was built around the 1940’s but he wanted to make it his own and much more modernized. He also felt that he wanted it to represent himself by bringing in his European taste and heritage as well as be a masculine space. All the while, paying homage to the homes history and roots. This was not an easy task, but one I was really excited about and up for!
We renovated the complete front of the house which included the entry, living room, kitchen and dining room. It already had beautiful built-ins in the dining room so we painted those and updated them with new hardware.
The kitchen was a complete gut and we brought in beautiful white cabinets that are a wonderful European style. I love the simplicity of the black subway tile but how it sets off the white cabinetry so well. Because he has a beautiful French range/oven, we set it apart by doing a chevron pattern above the range.
The fireplace was really fun! It was very dated and did not fit with his style at all so we demo’d it and then did brand new porcelain tile with heavy veining and then the finishing touch was a handmade 100 year old barn wood mantle that I made for him.
Cheers to a successful renovation!
